Spring Time To Power Up, Check Out Equipment
Here’s an opportunity to learn how to use and maintain tractors safely at workshops coordinated by the Women’s Agricultural Network and the University of Vermont Extension New Farmer Project.
Topics include information on purchasing new and used equipment, and hands-on time driving tractors and learning about different makes and models. Registration is required, space is limited to 10 participants. Fee is $35.
To register call (802) 223-2389, extension 203, or e-mail newfarmer@uvm.edu. Dave Antone, former Essex Technical Center instructor, will lead the event. Participants should come prepared for the weather, bring a bag dinner, and wear sturdy shoes, gloves, and work clothes.

May 11, 4 to 7 p.m., Tractors 101, Safe Use, Maintenance, and Repair, Harvest Equipment, Montpelier; registration deadline, May 5.
Meantime, check out new and old machines at these upcoming events, compare manufacturers and hear field-tested experience from the people who own them. (Many of the collectors who restore vintage machines also use brand-spanking new ones.)
